Currently in math we just took a slope quiz. Some strengths I have are graphing linear equations on number lines, multiplying monomials/binomials, solving proportions, exponents, and scientific notation. In the end, honestly, I do not know what I would like to be learning. Some struggles I have in math is the y-interept when the is not a specific point.
1st semester
This first semester we learned about multiple different things in algebra such as quadratics, linear equations, and
Original Aleks Pie Chart!
This picture shown below is my current Aleks pie chart as of last week 1/9/11. if u can see i have finished 75 topics since the beginning of the year. I have improved the most in Real Numbers and Linear Equations. I started at 28 out of 61. Now i am at 49 out of 61. Aleks has helped me to not only learn new topics but also to still remember the ones I have already learned.
Quadratics
This picture shows a drawing of quadratics using the square root. this is one type of quadratic that i am particularly good at.
The picture belows some more of my math quadratics work. i did not need to revise it because i understood it.
This is another picture of my math quadratics work. It is a review of quadratics and it shows all of the different types of quadratics.
the picture below is an example of a revised quadratics test. I received an 80% ad revised it to a 90%. Which is better than nothing!
Three Goals
Three Goals
Academi0c:
1) Work on Aleks every other day and weekends for 30 minutes a)Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays would total to an hour and twenty minutes, so if I had to do ten topics and it took me seven minutes per topic on average then I would be giving enough time to work on it.
b) I can focus on finishing one pie until I am not allowed anymore at the time.
2) Stay above a C+ in math and physics
a) Always do my revisions after I get my work back to get as many points as possible.
b) If I do not understand something, then I should actually ask for help, instead of asking my friends or just not worrying about it, like I often did last semester.
c) Check powerschool every day or every other day to make sure my grades are correct and reflect what I have been doing.
3) Learn the basics of acoustic guitar.
a)Learn the basic beginner chords.
I)Study the sheet I have on the chords.
b)Improve on transitioning from one chord to another.
I)Start with two chords, switching back and forth
II)Go on to three to four chords
III)Go back to two chords and transition with less beats in between.
IV)Move to three to four chords and transition with less beats in between.
Non-Academic: 1) Make cinnamon rolls from scratch
a)Go online and look for recipes.
b)Ask people I know if they have any recipes
c)Get the ingredients or check to see if I already have them.
d)Find or set a day that I can focus on making them, since they take one to two days to make.....correctly.
2)Finish renovating my room by the end of the quarter.
a)Clean it out.
b)Paint it.
c)Wallpaper it.
d)Take my bed apart.
e)Bring in new bed and other big, main objects.
f)Finish by filling my room with the accessories.
3)Do better at keeping in touch with my old middle school class.
a)Possibly make a schedule of when to talk to them example:.the sixth of every month.
b) Arrange days to hang out and catch up.
c)Take the action of texting, calling, and hanging out into my own hands so that I know that I took my own responsibility and I put in my side of effort.

2nd Semester
In the second semester, since the first semester picture on Aleks, i have done about 50 more topics, not including the topics lost in assesments. Since my last pie picture, i have finished the "arithmetic readiness" pie, i have added 10 topics to "real numbers and linear equations", i have added 13 topics to "functions and systems of equations." Additonally, i have finished "data analysis and probability" and in the rest i have added a couple to each. My greatest challenge is "Geometry and Trigonometry." My greatest success is in "Polynomials and Quadratic Equations."
This is my most recent pie chart (6/18/11). Since last time I have completed my Real numbers and Linear equations pie and my Geometry and Trigonometry pie. I have increased all of my other pies by at least 3 topics. The pie i have most improved on is Polynomials and Quadratic Equations, i had 10 last time and now i have 24. I believe that i have had the most success in this topic.
