My Creative Wonderland
Collage cover
The theme is clearly lips. To me, lips are so fascinating and beautiful. I also incorporated other words and images that make me happy to gaze at when thinking of other pieces to create.

Facial Sketches
The first pieces we drew in our sketchbooks were facial features! We practiced detailed sketches so that we would be able to draw ourselves in a realistic way.
Derivative Characters
We took fairly well known cartoon characters and altered their typical appearances. I took the Mystery Gang and then mixed Daphne with Sailor Moon.
Landscapes
Before starting our landscapes, we visited our local bay and painted landscapes al fresco. After that we found landscapes watercolor paintings and tried to recreate them on our own. I chose to use a still from the movie, Pocahontas.
Abstract Watercolor
Autobiography Portraits
In our English class we chose autobiographies of our choice to read. We incorporated our books in our Art class as well by making portraits of our author. Rather than painting it, we made up their face with a collage of various magazines and old books.
Basquiat Painting
To introduce us to the project, we watched a documentary about a famous artist, Jean-Michel Basquiat. He started doing graffiti on buildings in New York and was discovered. His painting style consisted of words, letters, and images combined to tell or story or have an underlying message. He was a neo-expression and primitive painter.
Faces of Art History
The artist I chose was Tom Wesselmann. His art style is Pop/Modern Art. The name of the painting that I recreated is "Bedroom Painting" and was painted in 1978. For the project we were asked to crop the full painting and just paint the face of the body.
The Austin Jones Project
One of Jeremy's former students, Austin Jones, who is a graduate of the Art Center in Pasadena, comes in to teach us once a week about character development. We started by taking a character (preferably human), and turn them into an animated character. I chose Kate Moss and turned her into a fox.
Fauxasis
We made a fake oasis using recycled materials that we gathered around our campus. I partnered with Madison and we made two butterflies (pictured below). I also partnered with my other friend, Gio, and we made a baby Dinosaur.
